IT was Take Your Dog to Work Day yesterday - but one wandering pup almost missed it.
Four-month-old Daisy had accompanied building estimator James Shallcross to his office at Castle Howard, near Malton, every day since he got her.
The young springer spaniel scampered off a couple of days before the official day. But now she's back after being found safe and well in Leeds.
A visitor to the stately home found the dog and, thanks to an electronic chip, the pair were reunited.
Other staff at Castle Howard also took part in the event, in aid of the Blue Cross animal charity.
Cairn terrier Poppy, who belongs to education co-ordinator Heather Eisenhut, is a familiar sight during outdoor tours.
"Having Poppy with me for a tour is an excellent ice-breaker," said Ms Eisenhut. "Children and adults alike make a huge fuss over her and she warms them to you immediately."
Nursery and contracts manager Nick Cooke, who has a two-year old terrier cross Ben, said: "Ben is the fourth in a succession of dogs that have come with me to work."
