WORK by award-winning glass artists Stephen Gillies and Kate Jones is to grace one of the finest collections of its kind in the world.
The North Yorkshire pair have been commissioned to create one of their technically challenging pieces by the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The V and A's collection of glass dates from 2000BC to the present day, and the work will be featured in a space dedicated to contemporary glass.
The pair established Gillies Jones Glass at Rosedale Abbey, on the North York Moors, in 1995 and it has established a reputation as a leading "hot glass" studio.
Mr Gillies said: "We are just delighted to have been asked to make a piece for such a prestigious collection and receive recognition for our work."
Ms Jones said: "It means a great deal to us to be adding to the national collection and to have recognition for our contribution to contemporary blown glass.
"We are looking forward to visiting this piece in situ in the gallery.
