THE proposed closure of a village surgery and the transfer of 1,000 patients will be discussed at a public meeting.
In July, the Medical Group wrote to patients in Lanchester, near Durham, warning that the village's Westlands surgery could close because of a shortage of doctors.
Durham and Chester-le-Street Primary Care Trust (PCT) holds its meeting in John Snow House, University Science Park, Durham, today. The agenda includes a look at the proposed closure. One option is to ask two full-time GPs to take on the extra patients when they arrive in October.
