A radio station for service families is in line for an award for its Easter programming.
The Jerusalem Radio Award, sponsored by one of the Sainsbury family trusts, recognises content on Good Friday, which highlights the meaning of the day. Garrison Radio, based at Catterick Garrison, is among the stations to have been short-listed. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at the Royal Society of Arts, in London, next Wednesday.
IN-TENTS WAIT: Another 15 tents have sprung up outside the Annington Homes sales office in Catterick Garrison as buyers queue to snap up homes at bargain prices. Another batch of former army quarters will be available for sale at the end of next week, with prices for two-bedroom properties starting at £69,950. The campers have queued each time the refurbished homes have gone on the market. Some of the people in the queue have now been under canvas for eight weeks.
OPEN MEETING: The Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust board meets in public at Stokesley Town Hall, on Tuesday. Items up for discussion include the trust's performance, patient experience, the Freedom of Information Act and an update on the Diabetes National Service Framework. The meeting begins at 2pm.
DECISION DELAYED: A date has still not been confirmed for the opening of Richmond's new skate park. A decision was to have been made on Monday but the committee spearheading the project was unable to meet due to illness. The group is working towards a launch in October and is still expected to make a formal decision before the end of the month.
MISSING BIKE: A youngster, who left his bike in a hedge while he went to fetch equipment to repair a puncture, was devastated to find it had gone when he returned. The black Trident was left at the side of the country lane, between Ellerton Hill and Whitwell, on Sunday. Anyone who can help trace the bike or picked it up believing it had been abandoned, can contact police in Richmond on (01609) 789321.
TRAILER THEFT: Thieves forced padlocks on a barn at a farm, near Hawes, and stole a silver horse box which was parked inside the building. The break-in happened sometime between 7pm on Tuesday and 8am yesterday. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Gayle area is urged to contact police in Leyburn on (01609) 789382
CANCER FUNDS: The chairman of Ryedale District Council is holding a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Relief at Ryedale House, Malton, on Friday, September 26, from 10am to noon
Last concert: The last outdoor concert in York this year will be performed in Rowntree Park, on Sunday. The event, which is organised by the council, features the York Concert Band and runs from 1pm to 3pm. Entry is free.
CRAFT FAIR: Masham Town Hall hosts an arts and craft fair this weekend. Doors open at 10am on both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
