THE new co-ordinator of Ferryhill's youth caf is looking forward to working with the town's young people.
Julia Rowcroft is enthusiastic about her new role at the e.caf and is full of ideas about how to develop it.
The e.caf provides a drop-in base on evenings and weekends, with project work on Thursdays and karaoke on Sundays.
Mrs Rowcroft and her team are hoping to develop youth mentors and provide training and alternative education. Fundraising has started to help to pay for residential exchange visits abroad, with the help of the Prince's Trust. Contributions from local companies would be welcomed.
Mrs Rowcroft also does detached youth work in Ferryhill, for the young people who do not want to use the services provided. She will shortly be taking an information project into local schools at lunch times to inform them of the services on offer.
Mrs Rowcroft said: "I'm looking forward to this new project and working with the staff, young people and other agencies in the Ferryhill area.
"I will be starting some new projects with the young people, hopefully with their own ideas because if it is something they are interested in, it always works well."
