PUPILS at a Darlington school can now bang their own drums, thanks to the efforts of their parents.
Abbey Junior School has invested in new percussion instruments after a donation from the Parents' and Friends' Association (PFA).
The PFA handed over a cheque for more than £4,000, raised from uniform sales, a garden party, discos and other events.
Headteacher George Ford said the money would be spent on items to improve life for the pupils, including playground seating, new trays for lunchtimes and musical instruments.
Music teacher Joanne Snowdon said: "The instruments are to use during practical music sessions. What we really needed was some nice bright drums."
