Wilton 1st travelled to Durham City 1st facing a tricky tie on their unfamiliar water-based surface which provided a new experience for many of the Wilton players.

Despite Durham's slick passing on the slippery surface Wilton soon adapted and found themselves creating a plethora of scoring opportunities forging an opening through frontrunner John Tombling who slotted past the onrushing keeper after a well worked passing move. Durham equalised soon after but Wilton continued to press forward. Newcomer Dom Binks had an effort disallowed in his debut for the club before Scott Morton latched onto a rebound from the Durham Keeper to fire home Wilton's second.

The second half saw an unfortunate defensive mix-up by Wilton, despite keeper Mark Morris's efforts Durham tied the game. Man of the match Scott Morton had the final say however, he scored the winner when he somehow managed to find the net from an impossible angle in the final moments of the game.

Wilton's 2nd team played at home against Durham City 2nd with a somewhat different team from that which won so impressively last week.

They were forced to make four changes to their starting line up through injury and other commitments. They began well however and despite having a distinct lack of creative flair managed to claw back an early Durham advantage to level the game 1-1 before half time. Man of the match Glenn Cutler the scorer.

The second half saw a very different story and the legs of some of the players not used to the game played at this pace soon became slower in the September heat. Wilton went behind after a well worked penalty corner beat the unlucky keeper Shaun Wallace who was pulled out of position by some slick interplay. Before they knew it Wilton found themselves further behind as Durham continued the onslaught. To Wilton captain Mark Nevison's dismay the game finished 5-1 to Durham, he's hoping it will be a different story when his regulars return.

Wilton 3rd were also left disappointed as Durham 3rds, a staggering 30 places above them in terms of league places at the end of last season, gave their young side a demonstration in how to play the game. The inexperience of the Wilton side which included seven under-16s in it's starting 11, told as Durham carved their way to a 9-0 victory. Captain Tony Clarke will have told his promising young squad that's what they are aiming for and hopes that they can take something from this game into next weeks match.
