Actors Jeremy Swift and Mary Roscoe will join local diva Suzannah Clarke, Opera Nova and the Northern Sinfonia for a musical tribute to Middlesbrough's most famous son, explorer Captain James Cook.
Organisers Middlesbrough Council said there will be a Last Night of the Proms programme and atmosphere with popular classical numbers and sea shanties.
Compere for the evening, BBC Radio Cleveland's Tim Ellingford, and opera singer Miranda Francis got in the mood yesterday by waving the Australian flag outside Middlesbrough Town Hall where the event will be held on October 26, from 7.30pm.
