THE first concert of the new season for the Ripon-based St Cecilia Orchestra will take place at a new venue - the city's newly-refurbished Holy Trinity Church.
The orchestra's usual venue is Ripon Cathedral, but another booking made it unavailable on the date of the concert, next Saturday.
The move gave conductor Xenophon Kelsey, the opportunity to take the orchestra to Holy Trinity to test its acoustics and facilities for the players and the audience.
There are three works in the programme: the Serenade No 2 in A major by Brahms; Two Romances for violin and orchestra by Beethoven, and Kurt Weill's Kleine Dreigroschen Musik - from his Threepenny Opera.
The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets at the door cost £10, for adults, £7 concessions and £5 for students. There is a £1 reduction for tickets bought in advance.
The orchestra is now into its 11th season, and draws players from all walks of life and since 1993 it has given 55 performances.
