SINGLE mother Sarah Rouncefield saw red when she spotted her former boyfriend in a clinch on a nightclub dance floor, a court heard.

Magistrates were told how Rouncefield, 22, who had hoped to resume her relationship with the man, took exception to him kissing Carla Fishburn.

Sarah Tyrer, prosecuting, said when Rouncefield saw what was happening in Monty's nightclub, in Ripon, she grabbed Ms Fishburn by the hair, pulled her head down and punched her in the face.

She then dragged her across the dance floor by her hair before hitting her a second time in the face leaving her with a black eye and the other one bloodshot.

Rouncefield, of Vyner Street, Ripon, pleaded guilty to assault.

David Camidge, mitigating, said the incident was down to a relationship Rouncefield had had with the man.

Harrogate magistrates ordered Rouncefield to do 50 hours of community work and pay her victim £50 compensation and pay £69 costs.
