EAST Durham voluntary organisations need drivers.
Groups in the area are suffering a shortage of volunteer drivers and a recruitment day will be held next Thursday in Peterlee Market Place to overcome the problem.
Stephen Metcalf, from the Durham County Council-led East Durham Rural Transport Partnership, said: "There are various opportunities available, including minibus driving or driving using your own car.
"All out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed and any training needed will be provided.
"When and how a person volunteers is entirely up to them - even a couple of hours a week would be a great help."
Among the organisations needing drivers are Easington District Communicare, East Durham Community Transport and Easington District GP Car Scheme.
For more information or to offer help, call Mr Metcalf on 0191-383 3975.
