STUDENTS learned the art of sewing to make a multi-coloured quilt for charity.
The first-year students, who have learning difficulties and disabilities, attend the Stockton Riverside College.
As part of their studies, they attend enterprise lessons where they put into practice some of the skills they had learned.
Each student submitted designs for a multi-coloured patchwork quilt and the members of the group took a collective decision on the winning design.
A spokesman for the college said the result surpassed everyone's expectations with patchwork squares of yellow, green and blue patterned fabric resulting in an eye-catching design.
The students decided to raffle the quilt to raise funds for the British Red Cross where some of the group attend youth meetings.
Heather Walker, head of early years and care, said "The quilt was a triumph for these students both individually and collectively. It is particularly rewarding when students with learning difficulties succeed in such a way and I am delighted that such a worthy cause could be the beneficiaries of their enterprise."
