THOUSANDS of pounds are expected to be raised for a North-East hospice following a charity golf day.
Twenty-three teams took part in the event at Blackwell Grange, Darlington, supporting the town's St Teresa's Hospice.
It was the second time the competition had been staged in memory of the late architect Rob Niven, who helped launch the Giving to Life appeal to open a full-time care unit at the hospice.
Holes were sponsored by businesses from across the region and organisers are predicting that the proceeds will top last year's £5,000.
Sally McCarron, of organisers Landteam, said: "It was a great day and we are hoping it will become an annual event now."
