RECORD crowds at this year's Middleham Stables Open Day raised the event's best ever amount for good causes.
Eleven charities have benefited from more than £20,000 that was raised.
Richmond MP and former Tory party leader William Hague presented the cheques at a ceremony at the Middleham Key Centre.
Nancy Murgatroyd, the chair of the centre's trustees, thanked all those involved in organising and running the open day on Good Friday.
Her comments were echoed by Mr Hague, who described the event as an excellent day out and an opportunity to see behind the scenes at the racing stables. for which the area is known.
Cheques were handed to the Middleham Key Centre, the Stable Lads Welfare Trust, the Air Ambulance, the Over- 65s Luncheon Club, the Middleham Sports Association, Children Today, the Middleham Town Council Community Fund, Multiple Sclerosis in the Dales, a resuscitation dummy for first-aid classes, the Richmond and Catterick Furniture Store and the West of Yore Hunt.
