VISITORS to a Hartlepool store will be able to add a new item to their shopping lists this week when crime prevention help is on offer.
Colin Hopkins, formerly the local police crime prevention officer who now works in a similar role in the town's New Deal for Communities (NDC) area, and Victim Support worker Chris Paul will be at the Bells Store in Murray Street on Thursday between 1pm and 3pm.
They hope shoppers will discuss their experiences of fear and crime.
Mr Hopkins said: "Chris and I already work closely by attending a series of drop-in advice sessions in the NDC area, which are proving popular. However, these sessions are not everyone's cup of tea and we are constantly looking for new ways of passing on advice that people feel comfortable with.
"We will be in the foyer of the store and we hope NDC residents will take the chance to pop in and pick up some useful advice and information along with their loaf of bread."
