AN out-of-school club has been awarded a grant for equipment. The club at Woodham Burn Infant School, in Newton Aycliffe, was set up in January to provide extra care for school pupils aged three to 11.
Woodham Burn now provides care for pupils from any school in the town from 7.45am to 6pm, as well as during all holidays except bank holidays.
The club is run by manager Kendra Green and her deputy Liz Jones, with other members of staff.
They plan the curriculum, which includes learning opportunities and external visits, all of which the children are actively involved in.
Headteacher Pat Henderson said: "Although it was set up for children from Woodham Burn infants and juniors, it is now expanded to include most Newton Aycliffe schools."
The club has recently received a grant of £928 from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, to allow it to buy specialist equipment which will be of particular help in including physically disabled children in activities.
Any schools or governing bodies interested in finding out more about the club can contact the school on (01325) 300231.
