POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Easson Road, Darlington, at about 9pm on Sunday.

BURGLARS STRIKE: Crime incidents in Darlington at the weekend included the theft of a Sony PlayStation from a house in Wordsworth Road; a purse from a kitchen in South Terrace; a video recorder in Neasham Road; a bicycle from a garage in Coniscliffe Road; four sets of golf clubs from a shed in The Mead, and a chainsaw and hedge cutters from an outbuilding in Carmel Road.
LEEK SUCCESSES: Results at the Black Bull Leek Club's annual show, at Wolsingham, were: 1 Harry Sanderson, 182.5 cubic inches; 2 Robert Greasley, 157.62 cu in; 3 John Percival, 130.45 cu in.
STOLEN VEHICLES: A silver K-registered Vauxhall Nova stolen from Esk Road, Darlington, at the weekend was found abandoned on the Cleveland Trading Estate. Others vehicles stolen included a red, L-registered Vauxhall Corsa, from Kingsway, a green Peugeot 306 from Hammond Drive, and a V-registered Polaris quad bike from Walworth Gate.
FUNDRAISER: Regulars at four pubs in Shildon - the Royal George Tavern, New Masons, Grey Horse and Jubilee Inn - combined with members of John Bennett, Castle, Runnymede and Ferryhill lodges of the Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, to raise more than £3,000 for Rosebank Special School, Ferryhill.
LEGION DATE: The next meeting of the Royal British Legion's Darlington branch will be held tomorrow, at 7.45pm, in the Cleveland Social Club, Neasham Road.
HEALTHY WALK: Sedgefield Borough Council and the Asda store in Spennymoor have teamed up for a Walking the Way to Health event on Thursday, from 10am to 12.30pm, in Jubilee Park, Spennymoor.
CHARITY NIGHT: A charity night at the Fighting Cocks pub, Middleton St George, near Darlington, raised £1,201 for the Make A Child Smile charity.
FUNDRAISERS: Belle Vue Working Men's Club, in Commercial Street, Crook, will raise money for the town's children's and over-60s Christmas funds with a jumble sale on Friday, from 9.30am to noon, and a table-top sale on Saturday, October 4, from 9am to noon. To book call (01388) 762386.

LEEK SHOW: The Royal British Legion Club, in Newton Aycliffe, will be holding its 41st annual leek show on Saturday. Benching must be completed by 1.15pm.
