A COUPLE enjoyed a double celebration as they marked their fifth wedding anniversary by completing the Great North Run at the weekend.
Gavin and Meimei Quiney, from Durham, were part of the 803-strong Team Macmillan, which joined the 47,000 runners in Europe's biggest half-marathon on Tyneside.
Gavin, a corporate consultant and Meimei, a local government officer, were taking part in the run for the first time.
Gavin said: "We chose to run for Macmillan because they've helped members of our family and this was our way of saying thank you."
Macmillan events co-ordinator Liz Belok said: "We are hoping to raise well over £100,000 from the Great North Run and that will mean we can help many more people with cancer. I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who ran for us.
