Norton Under-8s were at home to Marton FC. The game started slowly and against the run of play, Norton scored a well worked goal by man of the match Tom Hill. Just before half time, Marton's impressive attacking display earned them a goal through Elliot Duffy. It seemed like a different Norton in the second half with them battling well with a superb goal through Joe Taylor. Norton nearly made it 3-1 with Matthew Dixon from his own box but the shot just went wide. A great display of football by both teams in a physical match.
The Under-10 As lost 1-0 away to Billingham Town Boys who started the better of the two teams scoring late in the first half. Norton came out determined in the second half, but could not get an equaliser. Billingham man of the match was their goal keeper who pulled off a string of great saves to the despair of Norton.
A quick start from Norton saw the Under-10 Bs go 3-0 up against Bishop Auckland St Marys in the first five minutes, with two goals from Lewis Wing and one from Daniel Chesser. After good work from Joshua Fleming, Wing completed his hat-trick with a long range effort. Further goals from Chesser and David Roth made it 6-0 at the break. Three substitutions at half-time by Norton made little difference. Michael Bond, Liam Woodhouse and Patrick Nelson settled easily into the game. Joshua Peaden scored his first league goal for Norton quickly followed by his second. Norton's goal keeper, Jack Griffiths, was rarely troubled but marshalled his defence well. Good work from Tom Blakemore helped set up an easy tap in for Nelson. Lewis Wing completed his man of the match performance with a double-hat- trick culminating in a 12-0 victory for Norton.
Norton Under-11s started slowly against Billingham Town Boys going behind after five minutes. Hassan pulled Norton level with a good finish before more sloppy play allowed Billingham to take the lead. Robson again equalised with a strong shot from the edge of the box. In the second half, Norton played a little better with substitutes Baker and Wrench making an impact. Turner put Norton ahead then Vaulks and Baker scored to wrap the points up for Norton. Full time score Norton 5 Billingham Town 2.
In Norton Under-11s second game of the week, they took the lead after ten minutes, with Turner scoring at his second attempt. Fishburn equalised with a dubious penalty, adding another from a free kick, and a third from a deflection, Norton going in 3-1 behind at half-time despite dominating the game. The second half was one-way traffic with Fishburn hardly entering the Norton half. Robson scored after two minutes, then Steel scored with a left foot drive to equalise. Turner scored the goal of the game after a great ball from Robson, and then completed his hat-trick direct from a corner with only ten minutes to go to beat Fishburn 5-3.
Norton Under-12s beat Hartlepool in the Durham Cup with an amazing 17-0 win. The Norton boys could do no wrong in a totally one-sided performance by Norton, where goals were constant throughout the match, with clinical finishing and build-up work throughout the game. Goals coming from Jake Laverick (2), Tom Bun (4), Luke Johnson (2), Danny Baillie (1) and James Nick. Man of the match was James Gray who scored seven goals.
Billingham Town were the hosts to Norton's Under-13 A team in a hard fought midweek match. The 1st half saw these two teams evenly matched. Attack and counter attacks by both teams saw the score at 1-1 at half time. Norton began the second half much the stronger team, their pace down both flanks was rewarded by two quick goals. Billingham responded closing the gap to 3-2. Norton increased in confidence playing simple but attractive football. They now use their advantage territorially probing the Billingham defence at every opportunity. Norton continued to dominate the game ending up 6-2 winners.
The game between Under-13 As and Fishburn Boys turned out to be a very competitive encounter, two evenly matched teams traded blows in the footballing sense. The action was competitive and end to end both teams winning penalties in the first half but only Fishburn scoring from the spot. Norton responded and by half time were leading 3-2. Fishburn came out fighting and went into a 4-3 lead. For all of Norton's possession they could not convert their opportunities into goals. Fishburn scoring on the break extended their lead to 6-3. Norton continued to pressure the Fishburn defence to see one shot cleared off the line and another couple of near misses before finally getting a late consolation goal. Final score 4-6 to Fishburn.
Norton Under-13 Bs came up against a Whitby side in the preliminary round of the League Cup, who have got into the habit of winning games, and they showed why in this encounter. Whitby certainly have a strong back four, and it was easy to see why they conceded so few goals in their Championship campaign last season. That said, Norton were stronger in the first half, with midfield maestro Liam Hardman pulling all the strings to switch play time and again, keeping Town penned in their own half. Jamma Cronesberry scored a cracker to get Norton off the mark, the second soon followed with a Darren Appleton header. The third was top-shelf Jamma, despatching a home-made half volley into the top corner, to send Ancients in at half time three goals to the good. In the second half it was again Hardman who caught the eye, dropping deep to play Ince like in front of the Norton defence, taking responsibility, winning the ball, using it well and doing all the right things. The Norton performance was capped by a superb Tony Peel strike which killed the game off as a contest. Whitby produced a late but good close range effort which was well saved by Ancients 'keeper Josh Edon, then Whitby 'keeper Chris Knight dived low to his right to produce a great penalty save, keeping the scoreline respectable for Town. Final score NSA 4, Whitby Town 0.
Both Norton Under-15 Bs and Thornaby B started off well with Norton creating some good chances and first off the mark was Danny Hughes with the first goal to Norton. Norton's second goal came from Karl Nugent midway through the first half. Thornaby then pulled one back making it 2-1 with another two goals for Norton in the first half coming from Danny Hughes and Richard Johnston taking the score to 4-1 at half-time. Further goals in the second half by Danny Hughes, Karl Nugent (2), Richard Johnston and Ben Jackson making the final score 9-1 to Norton.
Hartlepool Crest played Norton's Under-16s in a battling display by an illness/injury ravaged Norton side secured a hard fought victory against a good Hartlepool Crest team. Despite only having ten men, Norton took the lead through Shaun Taylor and despite further injuries battled on into the second half.
Hartlepool equalised from a well taken free kick, but undeterred Norton scored again with a well taken goal by Shaun Taylor, his second and wrapped the game up with an excellent late headed goal from Steven Rudd, from a well taken corner from Lee Thomas. It was a battling display from all concerned.
