A YOUNG Wensleydale cricketer has proved himself a potential star of the future with a string of impressive displays this season.
Fifteen-year-old Dale Marshall's performances with both bat and ball have impressed both his junior and adult teammates, as well as opposing teams.
Throughout the summer, the youngster has represented no less than ten teams.
Apart from playing for his school team at Leyburn, Dale has also turned out for Middleham in both the Wensleydale Evening League and the fourth division of the Nidderdale League.
He has also played for the Blue Lion, East Witton touring side, which this year travelled to Oxfordshire, and for Richmond Town at under-15, under-17, under-19, third and second team level.
He amassed a record number of century partnerships with fellow opener Michael Layfield for the under-15s and was particularly thrilled to represent his school at area level in the semi-final and final of a cup.
Dale signed off his season at Richmond Town under-15s with 51 not out against local rivals Barton in the league cup final. It was Richmond's second cup win in the last three weeks, the other being in the Charles King cup when Dale was bowled on 46.
With the cricket season now over, the sporting all-rounder has turned his attentions to football.
The 6ft 2ins naturally left-footed player turns out in the centre of midfield for Ripon City Panthers under-16s in the Harrogate and District Junior League on Sundays. He also plays for Hawes United in the Wensleydale Creamery League on Saturdays.
Always keen to be involved, Dale is actively involved with the coaching and preparation of the Ripon City Panthers under-14s A division side.
He expressed his gratitude to his club captain Richard Sanderson, Richmond Town's Mark Layfield and Adrian Grayson for their input this year
