A CHILDREN'S theatre group is to close due to dwindling numbers.
Consett Theatre Workshop Juniors is coming to an end after 12 years.
The group needs about 50 youngsters to stage a show and rehearsals last week attracted only half that number.
Last year, the group staged a successful production of Oh What A Lovely War at the Empire Theatre, Consett. The show ran in tandem with an exhibition on how warfare affected local people.
It is a further blow for amateur dramatics in the town following the disbanding of Consett Theatre Workshop's senior group, six years ago.
To mark the closure, organiser Margaret Darroch is holding a farewell party for past and present junior and senior members, in The Demi club, Consett, on Tuesday, October 14, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
Admission will be by ticket only. For tickets or further details, contact Mrs Darroch on (01207) 505619.
