THE sweet smell of success has been wafting over Yorkshire this summer.
Wolds Way lavender farm, set up by Steve and Anne Jaques at Wintringham, near Malton, has seen a successful harvest of its first crop.
About 80 lavender varieties are now grown at Deer Park Farm since the Jaques converted the 12-acre site from a disused piggery. Just half-a-mile from the Wolds Way footpath, the crop has been attracting great interest, with walkers able to relax in the tea-room and sample lavender scones.
The enterprise, featured in the D&S Times just before it opened, has also benefited from word of mouth publicity since opening in June
