Sarah Borwell from Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough, confirmed she is a talent to be followed as she reached the semi-final of the Sunderland $10,000 Satellite tournament at the weekend.
After jetting into Teesside from her current base in Las Vegas two weeks ago, the local grown talent proved to be the best of the British in the draw by reaching the last four of the International Event.
She narrowly missed out on a finals place by losing to Austrian born Yvonne Meusburger, who is currently 312 in the Women's WTA Tour World Rankings.
Sarah explained: "It was important for me to do well on home soil and although I played a tough opponent it was a close match.
"However, I still have a few things to work on with my game. But with continued hard work in training and further tournament experience should mean that I should start winning those matches in the coming weeks and months."
Sarah plays in Glasgow this week in a $25,000 Satellite, where she hopes to continue her success and build upon her current ranking of 382 in the WTA World Rankings.
