Bishop Auckland have released striker Ian Chandler ahead of tomorrow's home game with Colwyn Bay.

Chandler was brought to the club during the summer by manager Brian Honour, but the former Whitley Bay striker, who scored the winner in the FA Vase final in 2002, has scored just three times for Bishops.

Manager Brian Honour is now hoping that Bishops' run of six games without a win ends tomorrow against the Welshmen, after their latest game at Workington ended in a 4-2 defeat.

"Every time one of our defenders makes a mistake, we seem to be punished," said Honour. "We don't seem to be getting the rub of the green.

"We're good going forward, but we tend to give away daft free kicks and the opposition scores.

"It's a test now of the players' character, but I still firmly believe that we can get up there."

Bishops beat Colwyn Bay 3-2 on the opening day of the season, but they haven't won a game since they won the Team of the Month award for August.

Spennymoor United are hoping to complete the signing before the weekend of West Auckland striker Jonathan Milroy.

Milroy played under Moors' boss Tony Lee during his time at Bishop Auckland, and Lee said: "I liked his style when he played at Bishops, and he will be a big asset to us. I believe he should have played at a higher level for a lot longer."

However, Milroy is unable to play for Moors in their cup tie against Warrington tomorrow

Meanwhile, Moors are licking their wounds after going down 3-1 at Harrogate Town, only their second defeat in seven games, on Tuesday night.

"We were the best side by a mile in the first half, but we were 2-0 down at half time," said Lee, whose squad is stretched to the limit for the Warrington game.

"I know where we need to strengthen, but Rome wasn't built in a day."

The Premier Division game between Whitby and Worksop had to be abandoned on Wednesday night following a serious injury to one of the Worksop players.

Defender Mark Haran was injured when collided with his own keeper in trying to clear the ball, and was also concussed.

Not wanting to risk further injury by moving him, play was halted until an ambulance arrived, and after a 30 minute delay, the referee decided to abandon the game.
