Darlington RA

The 3-0 scoreline flattered opposition South Park Rangers who are three divisions above the RA.

The scoring started with a fine effort from striker Jack Ridley, converting Tom Watson's deep cross. Further goals from man of the match Andy Grey and midfield dynamo Dave James completed the scoring.

The RA look forward to facing Spraire in the next round.

Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers

The Under-13s, sponsored by Weathertight Windows, played away in the league Cup against Seaton Carew. After a hard fought battle they were defeated 3-0. Rangers man of the match, James McFaddian.

The Under-12s, sponsored by MKM (Darlington), played away in the County Cup against Sunderland Redby FC. Rangers came out to win and played some superb passing football and opened their goal tally in the first five minutes before going from strength to strength after that, winning 5-1. Rangers scorers were: Craig Swainston, Ayden Carrick, Ben "BT" Turnbull, Tom Hutchinson and Richie Hinde. Rangers man of the match was Joe Clare.

The Under-11s, sponsored by Direct Glass & Door Panels (Darlington), played away in the league Cup against Hartlepool Eldon Lions and played some excellent football to win a convincing 6-1. Rangers scorers were Johnny Harte (4), Ben Hastie & Ashley Leighton. Rangers man of the match was awarded to the whole team for their brilliant work rate throughout the game.

The Under-10s, sponsored by SG Petch (Darlington), played at home in the league against Premier Stags FC. They played some excellent football and dominated from the start. Rangers won 4-0. Rangers scorers were Stephen Richardson (2), Sean Allen & Danny Longstaff. Rangers man of the match was Stephen Richardson.

The Under-9s, sponsored by Dutton Forshaw (Stockton), played at home in the league against Cargo Fleet JFC and won convincingly 3-1.Rangers piled the pressure on from the start and passed the ball well. Rangers scorers were Lee Hastie (2) & Jim Wilson. Rangers man of the match was Cory Aldus.

The Under-8s played at home against Seaton Carew JFC and after some superb football they were defeated 4-3. Rangers scorer and man of the match, Scott McLane (3).

The friendly that followed saw Rangers defeated by the same scoreline of 4-3. Rangers scorers were Jack Mc Stravick, Connor Bedford and man of the match Sam Guest.

Spraire Lads

Spraire Under-8s, sponsored by Astra Transport, started the first half well against a strong Redcar side. At half time the score was 0-0 thanks to some fine saves from goalkeeper, Christopher Soanes to keep the score level. Johnathan Dye and Craig Edwards battled in midfield and Martin Bowers had a good debut. Keenan Alexander and Liam Mckue found it tough going against a strong Redcar defence and it was well into the second half before the Redcar forward line overcame Spraire defences and finished the game winning 3-0. Man of the match was Christopher Soanes.

Spraire Under-9s went down 12-0 to Newton Aycliffe YC. Man of the match went to Conner Stein for a fine display in goal. Ironically, Spraire beat Newton Aycliffe in the follow-up friendly with Lee Varley taking the man of the match award.

Spraire Under-10s were away to 21st Allstars in a very even game. Sam Liddle went closest for Spraire but a lapse of concentration gifted 21st Allstars the only goal of the game.

Spraire Under-11s went down 5-1 to Newton Aycliffe YC in the League Cup. Spraire's opponents were fast and strong but lapses in marking also contributed to Spraire's downfall. Spraire's scorer, Jackson Kneeshaw was awarded man of the match.

In midweek, Spraire Under-13s had a fine 7-2 win over Newton Aycliffe SC with goals from Ward(2), Watson (2), Honeyman, Hastie and Anderson. Jacob Wood took the man of the match award. Unfortunately Spraire couldn't take their good form into the weekend and went down 3-1 to Whinney Banks in the League Cup. Ward scored Spraire's goal and Luke Robinson took the man of the match award.

Spraire Under-14s shared the points in a very entertaining game against Thirsk Falcons, which finished 3-3. Both sides gave 100 per cent with Spraire producing some very good passing. Spraire scorers were Barr, Tingate and Clamp. Danny Davidson had an excellent game in goal, but man of the match went to Liam Smith who battled on despite an injury.

Spraire Under-15 B won 2-1 at Saltburn Athletic in the first round of the TJFA League Cup. Spraire took the lead shortly before half-time after Borrowdale tucked away the rebound from an Elgie free-kick. Turbitt extended Spraire's lead with a diving header before Saltburn reduced the arrears, resulting in a tense finish to the game. Man of the match went to Tom Hind, showing great flexibility in defence, midfield and attack.

Spraire Under-15 C struggled to come to terms with an opposition three divisions above them in this cup encounter, finding themselves 7-0 down by half time. However a much improved effort following the interval saw Spraire compete on level terms throughout the second half with a final score of 8-1. Richard Bowlby was nominated man of the match for a tireless second half performance, with Matthew Hufford scoring Spraire's consolation.

Spraire Under-16s, sponsored by Cummins Engines Ltd went down 4-2 to Barnard Castle TJFA League Cup. Spraire took an early lead with a goal from Wright, with Barr the provider. Spraire extended their lead after 20 minutes with second goal from Wright. Spraire then sat back and conceded a soft goal against the run of play. Barnard Castle then equalised through a penalty for hand ball. Spraire started the second half well but conceded a third goal from a long distance free kick. Spraire Lads had several good chances to equalise, striking both the upright and the cross bar but instead conceded a fourth goal, following a Barnard Castle corner.

Youth League

The newly formed competition which boasts 11 clubs is now finding its feet and at the weekend there were big wins for Trimdon and Gateshead Redheugh.

Trimdon visited Willington and won 5-1 with goals by Shaun Sproat (2), Gary Evans, Mark Costello and Jonathan Heslop. Christopher Hodgson was a scorer for Willington whose man of the match was Simon Ord while Gary Evans took the honour for Trimdon.

Redheugh inflicted a 7-1 defeat on Hartlepool after establishing a 3-1 interval advantage. Tony Thirkell netted a hat-trick and both Aidan Atkinson and Chris Wilkinson scored twice for the Reds.

Hartlepool's only goal came from Ian Davies. Wilson was judged man of the match for Redheugh and goalkeeper Daniel Dukes was named Hartlepool's top player.
