Tow Law Juniors went down to a late goal against the visiting Sunderland Plains Farm in their first home game in Russell Foster Under-18s league. Injuries and suspensions left them below strength but the Lawyers frittered away enough chances to have won easily.
There was a good start from the home side and, after a long period of heavy pressure they went ahead after 21 minutes when Nicky Morton moved on to a through ball from Anthony Bussey to put a great shot past the advancing Stephen Lay. Lay then became the visiting hero as he saved numerous excellent scoring attempts, but the home side as well contributed to the half time score being only 1-0.
Early in the second half the visitors took advantage of one of their few chances when Chris Sharkey headed in from a corner. Despite this set back the Lawyers still held the territorial advantage but could not find the net. They were punished three minutes from the end with a replica of the visitors' first goal, Chris Sharkey again heading in from a corner.
On Sunday Tow Law Juniors are away to Seaham High Colliery.
