PRIMARY school pupils in Darlington will be clearly visible when they walk to and from school in future.
The borough council is offering fluorescent yellow jackets to all primary school children to mark international Walk to School week, from October 6 to 10.
Youngsters at St John's CE Primary School took possession of the first batch of jackets yesterday.
"We are well prepared for Walk to School week," said a council spokesman.
"The idea is to make sure children can be clearly seen by traffic and can walk safely to school."
More than three million children, parents and community leaders from 28 countries are expected to take part in Walk to School week to promote the benefits of walking.
