A Darlington student has followed in the footsteps of his older sister by winning a trophy for the best GCSE grades in his year.
The Lloyds Bank Trophy is awarded every year by Hurworth School Computing and Maths College.
Three years ago, it was won by Laura Bernstone, who gained 9A* grades and one A grade. Brother Andrew, 16, collected it this year for his 8A* grades and two A grades.
Laura, 19, is preparing to go to Cambridge University to study natural science after taking a year out to do research work for Proctor and Gamble.
She said: "It was brilliant when I won the trophy because it was something I had always aimed for. I think it is a good thing for the school to do, because it gives pupils something to work towards."
She added: "I was really proud for Andrew because he worked really hard and I think he deserves it."
Andrew is studying A-levels in German, business studies, mathematics and further mathematics at Darlington's Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.
