A TRANSPORT worker, who gets free travel to work, has vowed to learn to drive after winning an £8,000 car.
Susan Phipps, of Lemington Rise, Newcastle, won the Daewoo Matiz in a prize draw at the Gateshead MetroCentre. Ms Phipps - in the driving seat, above - who can ride on public transport for free, as part of her job with the Nexus travel company, said: "I am delighted with the prize. It will give me a great incentive to learn to drive.
" I do get free travel to work but then again it is such a great opportunity for me to get learning."
On hand to give the car away were MetroCentre's promotions manager Jane Holmes and Kate McCormack, marketing assistant for the Daewoo, Kia and Vauxhall dealership, which is on the Felling bypass, in Gateshead.
