THE search is on for teenagers to join the ranks of a lifesaving group.
Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue Team, which is one of the few mountain rescue teams to run a cadet scheme, is looking for more 16 to 18-year-olds to join the group.
Cadets will take part in outdoor activities including walking and climbing on one weekend a month and join the search and rescue squad for exercises.
Next year there could be an opportunity to visit a rescue team abroad. Waterproof clothing and equipment will be provided thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme.
An open night will be held at the team's rescue centre, behind Barnard Castle police station, next Monday, from 7pm to 9pm.
For details call cadet training officer Chris Roberts on (01833) 690268.
