A WARNING was given yesterday that a village's Bonfire Night event will be scrapped if there is any repeat of last year's trouble.
The event at Gainford, near Darlington, was wrecked last year by hooligans.
There was a suggestion that this year's display should be cancelled, but it will go ahead on the village green on Saturday, November 8.
Mark Charge and Anne Pratt, who organise it, said if there are any problems it will not be held again.

CHARITY BOOST: An antiques valuation event at Addisons Salerooms, Barnard Castle, raised £460 for the Children's Society.
LOCAL HISTORY: Sedgefield Local History Society meets on Monday in Ceddesfeld Hall, at 7.45pm. Bryn Hughes, of the Trincomalee Trust, will give a talk on the restoration of the ship.
HARVEST FESTIVAL: There will be a harvest festival celebration at Rose Street Methodist Church, Trimdon Grange, featuring Agape, a group of singers from Chester-le-Street, at 7pm on Saturday.
RESIDENTS MEET: The Woodhouse Close Residents' Action Group, in Bishop Auckland will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, at 7pm, in the Proudfoot Drive common room.
CHARITY AID: Andy Wiseman, head of modern languages at Teesdale School, Barnard Castle, has presented £250 he raised by taking part in the Great North Run to the Leukaemia Research charity.
FITNESS CLASSES: A ten-week keep fit to music class for the over-50s will start in Witham Hall, Barnard Castle, on Monday, at 10am. To book call (01833) 630665.
CHORAL CONCERT: Crook and Weardale Choral Society will host a free concert at Willington Methodist Church, on Tuesday, October 7 at 7.30pm.
BLOOD DONORS: A blood donor session is being held at the Methodist Church Hall, Main Street, Shildon, on Friday, October 10, from 3pm to 7pm.
SALE DATE: Sedgefield Round Table will hold an autumn fair in the Parish Hall, Stockton Road, on Saturday, October 11, 10am to 12pm.
