VISITORS will come almost face-to-face with the newest and most unusual example of wildlife found in the region.
A towering daffodil and gigantic poppy, measuring 5ft and made from willow branches, took shape at the Danby Moors Centre, in the North York Moors National Park, on Tuesday.
The structures are part of an extensive art and craft collection, called Out There, created by patients from Newlands Community Mental Health Resource Centre, in Redcar.
The group spent time with an education support worker from the centre and learned more about the wildlife and plant species found in the park.
The project allowed the group to appreciate the countryside and create individual artworks, including watercolours, silk paintings and paper mache birds, all of which are on display in the centre.
Allison Bullock, occupational therapist at Newlands, said the patients enjoyed being given the opportunity to get away from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Visitors are encouraged to take a look at the range of work created for the Out There collection, which will be on display between 10am and 5pm at the centre daily until October 30.
