Norton and Stockton Ancients: Norton Under-8s beat Hardwick Youth 2-0. Norton yet again put in a superb performance both defensively and attacking.
They scored their first from a Lewis Hopson corner which was put in by Matthew Dixon. Norton's second goal came from a long ball by Matthew Henry with Thomas Hill on hand to score his sixth goal in three games. With a few minutes to spare, Norton keeper, Harry Sharpe, pulled off a fine save to keep another clean sheet. A great performance from man of the match Benjamin McHalf.
There was a typical derby game with only a handful of chances between Norton Under-10 B and Stockton Town Juniors. Daniel Chesser and David Roth worked hard in midfield for Norton controlling the early exchanges. Fullbacks Josh Peaden and Tom Blakemore began to push forward towards the end of the first half but it still ended 0-0. In the second half, a Lewis Wing free kick clipped the bar nearly giving Norton a deserved lead. Norton's keeper rarely looked troubled. As the game wore on, Norton made three substitutions bringing on Aiden Cattermole, Michael Bond and Patrick Nelson. Within a couple of minutes remaining, Peaden gained a free kick for Norton. Man of the match Liam Woodhouse drove a great free kick into the box which Bond tapped into give Norton a well fought 1-0 victory.
Norton Under-11s produced their best performance of the season against Whinney Banks, playing some lovely football creating plenty of chances. Turner scored two first half goals. Hassan and Vaulks both scored two goals in the second half, with Turner scoring again to celebrate a hat-trick in Norton's 7-0 victory. Credit must go to Whinney Banks who never gave up.
A cracking performance from the Under-13 B squad playing away from home against an older side from Seaton Carew (Under-14s) in the preliminary round of the Durham Youth Cup. Ancients' back line is the bedrock of the team and they extinguished Seaton's rare attacks and used the ball well.
Norton took the lead early when Michael Bell finished from close range to begin a superb personal performance. Danny McAvoy added two more in quick succession, and the game was over when Jamma and Jon Stephenson each scored towards the end of the half. Norton were driven forward by an inspirational performance from captain Liam Hardman, who ran the game from the centre. The second half began with another goal from Jamma, however Seaton Carew struck back with a penalty. Norton were always in the driving seat and passed the ball around well, maintaining long spells of possession. Hardman, who impressed throughout, dropped deep to play in front of his back three whilst Ross Davison worked tirelessly in the centre. Jamma was denied his hat-trick by a good save from keeper Moore, however Shaun Sanson was on hand to pounce on the rebound. Final score Seaton Carew 1, Norton 7.
Norton Under-14s got there season back on track with a solid display against Whitburn and Cleadon in the Durham cup. Norton dominated the first half with some fluent crisp football. The first goal was long over due when Graham Wilson made a long run down the right side to cross the ball to Jamie Rowntree who took two attempts to finish. The second goal came from a lovely one two down the middle of the pitch between Dale Mulligan and Michael Williams with the later laying of the ball or Dale Mulligan to hammer the ball home from 30 yards 2-0 at half time. Norton once again came out strong in the second half, passing the ball around with confidence Graham Wilson had his best game so far this season with some nice attacking runs down the right side his crossing today was excellent. Norton would and should have at least doubled their score but for Whitburn's keeper Alex Rodgers who had a good game. Final result 2-0 to Norton.
A powerful attacking display from Norton Stockton Ancients Under-16s resulted in a 7-0 victory against a hard working Fishburn side. Goals in the first half from Shaun Taylor and Lee Thomas gave Norton a 2-0 half time lead. The second half was dominated by Norton who added further goals from Shaun Taylor, Shaun Lyndsley, Andrew Giddings, Stephen Rudd and the goal of the match came from Lee Thomas who lobbed the keeper from 30 yards. Man of the match for Norton was Shaun Simpson.
Norton Under-15s started their away game against Stockton Town very much on top with Ben Jackson putting a cross field ball to Tom Sharp who hit on the volley into the net making it 1-0 to Norton. Stockton then scored two in quick succession going in at half-time 2-1 up. Stockton started the better after the break, getting another two mid way through the half. Norton then got their heads together with man of the match, Ben Jackson, getting a goal later on. Norton then piled on the pressure but not making good any of their chances. Final result 4-2 to Stockton.
Houghall Community College Under-10s
Results: Houghall Community College 2, Kilder Park 1 (two goals for top scorer Liam Aitchison and man of the match was Ryan Ward).
Houghall Community College 5, Fencehouses 0 (three goals from Liam Aitchison and hat trick for Ryan Ward. Man of the Match was Ross Staples).
Richmond Town
The Under-10s played at home against Thirsk on a sunny Sunday morning. Richmond started well and took the lead with a strike from Kevin Robinson. This was his first goal for the team and he increased his tally to two by half time. At half time it was 2-1 to Richmond. Richmond conceded a penalty but then took control and Kevin Robinson earned his hat-trick. The final score was 3-2 to Richmond.
The second game showed Richmond's dominance and from the kick off after half time Kevin Robinson took the ball around the Thirsk team for an incredible solo goal, topping off his rush of goals for the day. The final score was 1-0 to Richmond. A great performance by the whole team who are looking more and more impressive each week. Man of the match was Kevin Robinson.
Richmond Under-12s played at home to Dales Diamonds. The game got off to a thrilling start with a penalty to Richmond. Gavin Hill took the penalty and gave the keeper no chance. Richmond went further ahead when the goalie parried a shot and Rich Catterick put the loose ball in the net. Gav Hill completed his second hat trick of the season when he scored two more before half time. Tom Hodgson scored his first for the club when he hit an unstoppable shot. The half finished with Richmond leading 5-0. Richmond added just one goal in the second half when Tim Jackson made a cross to Tom Hodgson. Man of the match was Gavin Hill.
Richmond Under-13s were away to Ormesby. In a totally one sided match Richmond hammered Ormesby by 11-0. Man of the match was Ben Whiteside who scored six goals. Captain Craig Swainston weighed in with a hat-trick and Richard Bastow scored two.This was an excellent display by the team with a lot of individual skill and flair but they are unlikely to meet a team as easy as this again this season.
Richmond Under-14s travelled to Thirsk. The first half was a hard fought contest with both teams defences playing particularly well keeping the score at 0-0 by half time. The second half started with both defences still working hard until the deadlock was broken mid way through the half when Sam Pritchard got a shot on goal which was deflected into the net by the Thirsk keeper. This seemed to spur Richmond on and soon Tom Stanwick broke through to add a second. The game finished off with a third goal from Tom Borthwick. A good performance by Dan Hodgson the keeper and all the defence for keeping a third clean sheet. Earlier season results for the Under-14s have been wins of 9-0 over Seaton Carew and 4-0 over Spraire Lads.
Other scores from the weekend saw Under-15s lost to Thirsk 4-2 and the Under-9s played three matches against Northallerton winning the first and losing the next two.
Coxhoe Boys
Coxhoe mantained their 100 per cent start to the season with a tremendous 11-0 win over new side, Durham Wanderers.
Joohn Dodd, a summer signing for the Under-15s, was the star of the show, scoring six of his side's goals while strike-partner, Michael Owens also bagged two goals. Nathan Ward, Liam Short and Michael Roberts also got on the scoresheet to ensure Coxhoe stay at the top of the table.
On Sunday the Under-15s will face Newbottle at home, kicking-off at 1.30pm at Coxhoe Leisure Centre.
The Under-11s have won four out of four games so far in the Russell Foster Tyne and Wear Youht League. Liam Lawson, Owen Smith, Ryan Burton have all stood out for Kevin Owen's side.
Stockton Town
Stockton Town Under-10s slumped to their second successive home defeat against a strong Newton Aycliffe side.
The first half opened up with end-to-end football from both sides and both goalkeepers being called into early action. After seven minutes the deadlock was broken as Stockton failed to clear a Newton Aycliffe corner and Niall Smith drove the ball past home keeper Jack Cooper to put the away side in front. Stockton Town surged back against Newton Aycliffe and a remarkable double save from away keeper Michael Haykin stopped first Jamie Blyth and then Adam Flewker from equalising before half time.
The second half mirrored the first as both sides went on the attack, however after six minutes of the second half another defensive mix up by Stockton allowed Jordan Steele to gleefully smash home a second goal for Newton Aycliffe.Stockton again tried to rally and a long range effort from Andrew Mclaren was smartly saved by Haykin in the away goal.
As Stockton pushed for a way back into the game, Newton Aycliffe caught them out at the back with a fine second goal for Niall Smith who gave Cooper no chance in the Stockton goal to make it 3-0.
Stockton tried in vain to find a late consolation with shots from Jamie Blyth and Ben Thacker who fired narrowly wide but Newton Aycliffe held on for an impressive win.
Stockton Town Under-11s began their match with Coulby Newham's small pitch kicking up the hill with the sun in their faces. After only two minutes they were behind following a goal-mouth scramble the ball broke loose and the ball was fired low into the corner. Stockton will be disappointed as they had three chances to clear the ball away.
An equaliser nearly came after quarter of an hour when Adam Layfield made a good run down the left wing shooting across the keeper and missing the far post by inches. On 19 minutes it was 2-0 to the home team. A corner was flicked on and knocked in at the back post. Stockton Town got back into the match five minutes into the second half. Ian Durrant hammered the ball home when the ball broke to him following a corner. However, the home team extended their lead when the Stockton goalkeeper couldn't hold onto a fierce shot and the loose ball was tucked away. The game was put beyond doubt after 40 minutes when a rasping shot from the left hand side made it 4-1. Stockton came more into the match during the final 20 minutes but couldn't find a way through the well organised Coulby Newham defence. Stockton Town man of the match was Adam Layfield.
