The league programme was considerably reduced due to clubs playing in the KJM Embroidery League Cup second round and the Durham County Football Association Sunday Cup.
The KJM Cup produced no shocks as the fancied sides all progressed. All games played saw the away side win through to the next round. Hetton Lyons Cricket Club from the Premiership travelled to Durham Coach and Eight and goals from Bradley Groves, Jason Ainsley two from Martin Bowes plus a fine hat-trick for Dave Oliver gave Hetton a comfortable 7-1 away win to progress into the next round.
In a very entertaining game at Gilesgate Moor Hotel visitors Lumley FC were the eventual winners in extra time. Lumley won 4-3 thanks to goals from Paul Howe, Steve Roughly, Lee Dickinson and Glen Jackson.
One of the favourites for the Cup Chilton Wmc were easy winners at Belmont Sportsman's Arms 5-0 thanks to some fine strikes from Paul Harnett, Kirk Trewin, Craig Mason, Lee Thistlewaitte and Dale Anderson. Durham Bede Lodge also put them selves into the next round with a fine win 2-1 at Brandon Sports Club, Marc Mackenzie and Nick Barker netting with Lee Nyland replying for the Sports Club.
Brandon Bay Horse had to work hard for their 1-0 win at Newton Hall Jovial Monk, Lee Johnson finally ending the deadlock with a well-worked goal. A hat-trick from Andrew Ridley plus strikes from Luke Charlesworth and Dave Waddle gave New Herrington Wmc a 5-0 win at Bearpark wmc.
In the First Division the only game played saw Coxhoe wmc beat visitors Hetton New Inn 3-2, Gavin Barton scoring two and one from Adam Partington for Coxhoe with John Richardson and Kevin Cummins replying for the New Inn.
In the Second Division Houghton Mill All Stars were comfortable winners in the only game of the day beating Langley Park WMC 3-0. Chris Rogerson opened the scoring after 15 minutes knocking home a right wing cross after some sterling work by Graham Hoban. Mill's top scorer Stephen Fenn extended his goal tally by netting two further goals in the second half. This win moves Houghton Mill into a mid table league position.
In the Third Division Pittington crashed to a 2-0 home defeat by Houghton Comrades, Gary Muncaster and Andrew Wallace the scorers. A brace from Alan Brumwell and one each for Dave Dinsley and Gary Thirwell saw Washington Honest Boy earn all three points as they were 4-2 home winners over Waterhouses.
Belmont wmc and visitors Birtley William shared the honours in a 3-3 draw. Two from Kevin Harker plus one from Paul McVitte for the home side with Neil Evans, Paul Proud and Gavin Crozier replying for the William.
Shaw Moor Cricket Club earned their first away point of the season drawing 1-1 at Houghton Chilton Lodge. A hat-trick from Dave Atkinson plus two from Robert Dick gave Pelton Fleece a comfortable home win 5-0 over Witton Gilbert White Tunn.
In the Fourth Division Durham Pot & Glass secured a fourth league win from their opening five games thanks to a comfortable 2-0 home win over Ash Winning CC. The visitors never really threatened and Neil Rivers put the home team ahead midway through the first half, finishing well after good work down the right from Steve Dobson. The Pot & Glass again dominated after the break and Steve Dobson doubled the lead with a header from a Steven Gardener corner. West Rainton Greyhound travelled to Birtley Coach and Horses and came away with their first away win of the season, winning 4-0, Ian Brown hitting two, Chris Wilkinson and Neil Welsh adding further goals.
The Glendenning Arms drew 2-2 with visitors Fatfield Biddick Inn. Highest scoring game of the day saw Bournmoor Dun Cow win 8-4 at Langley Park Sports and Social. Two each for Wesley Hood and Ben Gritton plus goals from Carl Tingley, Michael Baxter, Chris Staples and Darren Robson. Depite being on the losing side James Cutler and Michael Watson both scored two each.
The Washington Arms good run of results came to an end in the County Cup at the hands of Stanley Sunday League champions Stanley Royal, two first half penalties both converted by Mark Pattinson gave the Royals the advantage, the Arms came back strongly in the second period but were unable to penetrate the well organised Stanley defence and with only minutes remaining Mark Drake made it 3-0.
