Ripon'S links with author Lewis Carroll will be highlighted at two events at the St Wilfrid's Festival.
The event, which runs from tomorrow until October 19, features a festival lecture at 3pm, on Sunday, in the city's cathedral by Professor Edward Wakeling.
He is an international authority on Lewis Carroll and has a series of photographs of the author, whose father was a Ripon Cathedral canon.
Prof Wakeling - author of Lewis Carroll, Photographer: The Princeton University Albums - will take centre stage in the cathedral library in the event on Sunday. Tickets, which cost £3, are available on the door.
Tomorrow at 7.30pm, Lewis Carroll's Ripon Wonderland will be an illustrated talk by Ripon historian Maurice Taylor. It will be given in the newly-restored cathedral interpretation centre,Thorpe Prebend House, High Agnesgate.
The event, which includes food and drink, costs £8. Tickets are available from (01765) 609076.
St Wilfrid's Festival marks the city's patron saint and his safe homecoming after exile in 686.
It includes special services, musical events and next Saturday, Yorkshire's Three Choirs Festival will feature choristers from Leeds Parish Church, Ripon and Wakefield Cathedrals.
The event will be repeated at Leeds Town Hall on Monday, October 13, from 7pm.
The festival will also include a full peal of bells ringing out from Ripon Cathedral on Saturday, October 18, from 10.10am until 1.30pm.
A festival peal will take place between 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday, October 15.
