Dale Jordan, representing Cleveland Schools, finished 18th in the English Schools Athletics Association decathlon championships at Sheffield.
Although he missed his target of 5,000 points, he set a personal best of 32.54m in the javelin and his pole vault was eighth best of the competition, while final discipline, the 1500m, saw him come home in 4:49.1, the fifth best of all the competitors.
He was the second North-Easterner to finish and the fourth best Northerner.
