Belford House beat Birtley Town Reserves 3-0. John Holborn, Michael Agnew and Mark Green scored the three goals for Belford to lift their club to joint top of the league with Coxhoe Athletic.
In League Challenge Cup Durham City Reserves made progress to the next round with a 4-1 win at home to Durham Victoria Bridge. A brilliant solo run by Gareth Greener - he beat two defenders then slotted the ball past the keeper - putting Durham City in front after 20 minutes. Barry Cook cracked in the second with his left foot on 35 minutes to make it 2-0 at half time. Micky Barker pulled a goal back for Durham Vic five minutes into the second half when he latched on to the ball first from a goalmouth mix up. Durham Vic's hopes of getting anything out of the game was short lived because Michael Conlon grabbed a couple of goals in the 60th and 70 minutes.
Seaham Town Community are through to the next round after a 3-2 success at home to Durham University. John Dobbinson put the Town in front after seven minutes, Scott Burns made it 2-0 with a fine header from a cross by John Mitchell in 60 minutes. Andy Wollet reduced the arrears for the University tapping in at a goalmouth mix-up, Dobbinson hit a screamer from 35 yards for his second to make it 3-1 to the Town after 80 minutes. The University pressed hard in the last ten minutes and were awarded a penalty which Paul Newman converted but wasn't enough to keep them in the competition.
Whitehill FC won their tie 5-0 away to Ebchester FC. Justin Robson, Kevin Coates, David Stephenson and Gary Robson (2), earned them a place in the next round.
Hartlepool Town came out on top against Shildon Railway in a nine goal thriller. A nice through ball from John Page gave Chris Birkbeck the opportunity to get the first for Hartlepool. Dave Eglintine and Stephen Doyle made it three. A fine header by Terry Minns pulled a goal back for Shildon, then Doyle and John McCaffrey put another two into the net to give Hartlepool a 5-1 lead. Stephen McGowan for Shildon reduced the lead with a couple of goals to make it 5-3. Hartlepool finished with a 6-3 win when McCaffrey got his second.
Brandon Prince Bishop progressed to the next round. Graham Stobbs, Dave Fort and a couple each from Michael Fort and Paul Webster made it six with Alan Parker replying for Gateshead A.
Simonside Social Club travelled to Seaham Mallard and went down by the odd goal in nine to a golden goal late in the first half of extra time. Goals from Stephen Gibson, Michael Ord (2) and Raymond Simpson for Simonside and Mallard strikes from Lee Cuthbert (2), Johnathan Rennoldson and Michael McNicholas put the game into extra time
But Simonside were disappointed going down by the golden goal scored by Garry Moratty 14 minutes into extra time.
