MAJOR traffic disruption is expected because of planned roadworks on one of Harrogate's busiest routes.
Two sections of Skipton Road are to be resurfaced. The first stage of the work is to be carried out between Dragon Parade and Regent Parade. Work will start on Monday and is likely to last for about four weeks.
A one-way system will be set up on Regent Parade in order to get left and right turning vehicles safely in and out of Westmoreland Street. Entrance to Westmoreland Street from Skipton Road will be prohibited at certain times while the work is carried out in the mouth of the junction.
The second stage of the work will be on the section of Skipton Road between Knox Avenue and St John's Road. Work will start on November 10 and will also take about a month to complete.
For safety reasons, St John's Road, St John's Grove and Coppice Way will be closed at their junctions with Skipton Road during the works.
A council spokesman said: "These major maintenance works are vital and cannot be avoided.
"More than 27,000 vehicles use Skipton Road each day so there is bound to be major disruption."
