A MOTHER and daughter have worked together to create a children's book that brings the story of Noah's Ark into the 21st Century.
The Voyage of The Ark was written by Shirley Hetherington, of Great Ayton, near Middlesbrough, and illustrated by her artist daughter, Louise Hughes.
Former teacher Mrs Hetherington was inspired by watching her three grandchildren playing with their toy ark and animals.
"I have done creative writing courses and this is something I have always wanted to do, so it was nice I able to do it with Louise," said Mrs Hetherington, 68.
"We made a good team. One day I would like to do one with drawings from my grandchildren, that would be nice."
Mrs Hughes, 37, who now lives in Leeds, used a combination of hand drawings and a photographic collage to bring the book to life.
She said: "It is stimulating for the children to see the mixture and, hopefully, they will try to do it in their own work.
"We were both quite green when we agreed to do the book together so it has been a bit of a learning curve, but we got there in the end."
