DRIVERS in Middlesbrough have been warned about delays during essential gas mains work this week.
Pipeline company Transco will carry out the work on the junction of Roman Road, Green Lane and Emerson Avenue from 9am today.
Their presence will mean the use of four-way traffic lights outside the College of Art and Design.
Transco network officer Mark Tait said: "This work is absolutely essential and we can only apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.
"Drivers should avoid the area, if at all possible, because it is likely to cause congestion.
"We are working very closely with the highways officials to make sure disruption is kept to a minimum.
The work is expected to last all week. Footpath diversions are in place for pedestrians.
