THOUSANDS of children are broadening their horizons with the help of international artists.
More than 60 schools across County Durham and Sunderland are taking part in dance, drama, art and music workshops throughout the autumn term, as part of the Small World, Big Dream festival.
The multi-cultural festival is hosted by The Forge, Durham and Sunderland's arts education agency.
Tony Harrington, director of The Forge, said: "I think it is vitally important that pupils from Sunderland and Durham are given the opportunity to meet and talk to people from different parts of the world."
Ten artists will stage workshops, including a West African arts group, dragon-makers from China and members of a dance troupe from South Asia.
The Forge receives support from Arts Council England, Durham County Council and City of Sunderland Council.
