PEOPLE in Derwentside can get to grips with the world of computers on courses at Consett Library.

The library is running the sessions with Derwentside College to help people get the most out of computers and the Internet .

People can book sessions on the computers using their library card.

The library also has a volunteer who organises drop-in sessions on Tuesday afternoons.

These are proving so popular that people queue up to guarantee they get a place.

One computer has been set up as a community information point, as part of a district-wide project that uses the Internet to access local information.

Project worker Gail Pilkington is available to offer help to users on Friday afternoons.

A family history drop-in course is also running on the last Friday of each month with local volunteer John Milburn.

* Storytimes for babies and toddlers have resumed at the library, on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 10.30am, after a summer break.
