CONFECTIONERY group Glisten has acquired chocolate football manufacturer Sunya in a £750,000 deal.
Production from the Sherburn, North Yorkshire, site is expected to be transferred to Glisten's headquarters in Blackburn, Lancashire, in December following the Christmas rush.
The acquisition of Sunya, a division of Leeds-based Renshaw Scott, is Glisten's first since it floated on the Stock Market in June last year.
Its ten staff are expected to be redeployed elsewhere within the Renshaw Scott business.
Sunya generated sales of £1.8m in the year to June 30. It makes a range of chocolate confectionery, including foiled and netted chocolate balls, for a number of major UK multiple retail chains.
Glisten's other products include Sun-Maid chocolate-coated products, as well as popcorn, and sugared almonds.
