A PRIMARY school's efforts to learn about different cultures has gained it an award.
Representatives from Cockton Hill Infants School will travel to London this week to be given an International School Award from the British Council.
The accolade has been given in recognition of the work the school has done looking at the customs and traditions of countries such as China and Russia.
Headteacher John Redman has visited both countries to improve links.
Pupils have also taken part in workshops with artists Lip Lee and Mel Todd to create an oriental dragon to celebrate Chinese New Year and other customs.
Barnaby Bear is helping the children discover new places as teachers and friends of the school take the cuddly toy on journeys across the world.
Mr Redman said: "I am very proud of the school for achieving this award. There has been a great deal of hard work put in by staff, parents and support staff and it has created a lot of excitement.''
