SECONDARY school children have been picking up writing tips from a top author.
The year 11 pupils, from all six secondary schools in Hartlepool, met Phillipa Gregory at the town's education centre yesterday afternoon.
They took part in a question and answer session with the author, who wrote The Other Berlin Sister.
Karen Adams, from Hartlepool Borough Council's education department, said it was inspirational for the pupils.
"It makes them think about what sort of career they would like upon leaving school," she said.
"They are all in their final year at school and now is the time they are focusing on their future."
