RESIDENTS gathered at the weekend to tidy their rubbish-strewn neighbourhood.
Newton Hall Parish Paths Partnership has been set up to improve the footpath network on the outskirts of Durham.
On Saturday, volunteers carried out a litter pick on the path opposite the Co-op store, running parallel to Carr House Drive. The team, working with officers from Dur-ham County Council's rights of way department, also tackled overgrown trees along the link.
Parish paths officer Victoria Lloyd said: "The paths around any urban area like Newton Hall can get particularly strewn with litter and the clean-up aims to create a positive impact on the local environment.
