YOUNGSTERS in Darlington can win a year's free swimming by coming up with the winning name for a new water slide at the Dolphin Centre.
The centre, run by Darlington Borough Council, is holding a competition to find a name for the new water slide, believed to be the only translucent water slide in the region. The slide opens on Saturday, October 25, and replaces the Dolphin Centre's 'curly' slide which has been out of action since April.
The new slide, along with a refurbished toddler pool costing £70,000, was installed by contractors who worked at night to minimise disruption to users. The competition is open to children aged three to 15 years and offers a prize of a year's free swimming for one child at the Dolphin Centre.
Eleanor Lister, the council's cabinet member for leisure, said: "The opening of the new slide and toddler pool is wonderful news for everyone and will be a great attraction for people of all ages."
Entries should be sent to the Dolphin Centre by Wednesday, October 22, and entrants should include their name, age and contact details with their suggested slide name on a postcard.
