POLICE have issued e-fits of a couple who fooled a little boy's mother into letting them into her home.
The pair claimed to be a social worker and a plain-clothes police officer when they called at a house in Oakley Green, West Auckland, County Durham, last Thursday, asking about an injury to a four-year-old boy.
Now police are warning other parents to be on their guard and appealing for information about the couple, who drove a small blue vehicle.
They left the house soon after 6pm, after interviewing the child for about 45 minutes in the mother's presence. The woman made notes of the conversation.
She was white, in her early 40s, 5ft 7in, slim and with blonde, shoulder-length straight hair.
She was wearing a beige trouser suit with a white blouse, black shoes and gold hooped earrings.
The man was white, of similar age, 5ft 10in, of average build with short, dark brown hair. He was wearing black trousers, a white shirt and black clipped tie.
Anyone with information is asked to telephone (01388) 603566 or to Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, when the call can be anonymous.
