A 15-YEAR-OLD girl ran screaming from a bedroom after finding the blood-stained body of her sister, a court heard yesterday.

Emma Ruddick told how she walked into the bedroom of her sister, 12-year-old Natalie, to be confronted by the horrific sight.

The jury at Newcastle Crown Court heard the youngster reliving the moment in a video-taped interview with police.

She said: ''I ran up the stairs. Then I went to her bedroom but her door was shut, so I opened it thinking she was in bed.

"She was on the floor and the bed was on top of her neck.

"I ran downstairs screaming to my mum. I ran downstairs and I shouted 'mum, she is dead'."

Ronald Pattinson is accused of stabbing Natalie 25 times after she was said to have caught him stealing money.

Mr Pattinson, 18, was the boyfriend of Emma's other sister, Claire, 16, at the time ofNatalie's death in March.

Emma was interviewed by police shortly after the alleged attack.

She told how she had returned home with her mother, Dawn Ruddick, and Claire, and entered the house by the rear door before going to find Natalie, who had been off school sick.

When she ran from the room, Claire called 999 and was given instructions on administering first aid.

Emma told police: "Claire was giving her the kiss of life. She was talking to the ambulance men while she was doing things they were telling her to."

She said Mrs Ruddick was also in the house "shouting and panicking for the ambulance to hurry up".

The next time Emma went to the room, the defendant, whom she called Ronnie, was standing in the doorway.

She said he looked shocked and was in tears. Mrs Ruddick was still crying and had to be calmed down by paramedics when they arrived.

Emma also told police how she and Natalie had disliked Mr Pattinson.

The court also heard how Natalie used to babysit for the defendant's aunt, Dawn Pattinson, who lived nearby.

In her evidence, on the second day of the two-week trial, Emma also told how Natalie had previously received a number of phone calls when she would answer her mobile but then no one spoke.

Mr Pattinson, of Belsay Place, Newcastle, denies murdering Natalie at her home in Frosterley Place, in the Arthur's Hill area of Newcastle.
