HUNDREDS of leaflets are to be handed out in an area terrorised by a tearaway teenager to stop him reoffending.
On Tuesday, Ashley Lindo, 13, was made the subject of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo) until his 18th birthday.
Teesside Magistrates' Court was told how he brought terror to streets surrounding his home in Orwell Drive, Middlesbrough.
Sat next to his mother, Alison Lindo, 37, he listened as District Judge James Prowse banned him from Leven Street and alleys behind the road, along with Carlow Street and Meath Street, on the south side of Crescent Road, in Middlesbrough, and the grounds of Archibald Primary School, Middlesbrough.
The Asbo also forbids the youngster from throwing or threatening to throw eggs, or gathering in a group of three or more outside people's homes.
He will also have to return to court if he is found spray-painting graffiti or using abusive language anywhere in Middlesbrough.
In the next two weeks, Middlesbrough council's enforcement officers and street wardens will deliver up to 1,000 leaflets near his home in Orwell Drive.
The letter-drops will include a picture of Ashley, details of his banning order and a contact number for anyone wanting to report a breach of the order.
After the hearing, Mrs Lindo said: "Five years is a long time when I look at other people's crimes in the past.
"Ashley is naughty, he is a 13-year-old kid. But he is not a criminal and I am willing to check my son if people come and tell me what he is doing."
